Annually, on the first Saturday in December, my kids and I visit the library where I used to work for a visit with Santa Claus. Today, my son was naughty, and did not get the privilege of seeing Santa.
Sometimes, parenting is very difficult. It broke a bit of my heart to leave him behind, but he got angry and hit me in the morning, and then got sassy with me when I offered him a second chance. He looked so sad and was crying when I left with my daughter. I hope he understands the lesson we were teaching him. Overall, he’s a good-natured kid, and my daughter is the more mischievous one. Today was a rare role reversal.
One fun outcome of his “naughty” behavior is that I now have the best Christmas card ever. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for the cards, since I usually send out a picture of both kids with Santa. Inspiration struck. My son was a good sport for his photo and gave me his best “mean” face. Voila!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas…
