Picture Book Review: EXTRA YARN

“On a cold afternoon, in a cold little town, where everywhere you looked was either the white of snow or the black of soot from chimneys, Annabelle found a box filled with yarn of every color.”

Extra Yarn is the story of a girl who finds a magical yarn box. With the box, she brings a bit of color to her town, until a mean archduke arrives. The illustrations begin in black and white with the use of color to show how many lives the girl has touched by sharing her extra yarn.

A fun activity would be to teach children the basics of knitting.
